Bob Taylor

Background
I was born in Southall in Middlesex in 1952 when it was still a working class but relatively prosperous suburb of London with an exceptional Grammar School, a Horse Market and a Manor House. I grew up as it changed with the influx of Asian families, and in retrospect I was fortunate to grow up in such a culturally interesting and changing time. Although at the time it did not always seem so. After A levels and a transition year in magazine publishing I got an HND in Business Studies and my career started.
Early Career
I spent periods in EMI and Siemens working in areas such as TV Studio Equipment and Telecommunications Test Equipment learning about new technologies in both commercial and defence sectors. I joined Solus Schall an Oil & Gas service company providing technical manpower across the world. I progressed quickly running departments and teams across Europe, in Iran and Offshore Scotland. Using this experience I started my first company doing Coatings Inspection and supporting a refinery in Kalimantan by supplying technical staff from the UK. Unfortunately a recession in the energy industry meant that the business did not flourish after five years of hard work.
Middle Career
I became a Manager for GKN and was a responsible for the structural change of a Business Service company before joining a Contract Hire company responsible for merging it with a sister company. This was a time of rapid change in the business world and I joined a medium sized IT Recruitment business with VC investors. I was employed to change the business model and eventually became joint MD before the business was sold from under me. This was followed by a succession of roles starting Search or Recruitment businesses backed by various people before I joined an Internet start up as VP Operations recruiting a full team and setting up operations in France and Germany. The Internet bubble burst and I then had to downsize the organisation before it became my turn to leave.
Recent Career
Since starting my own business in 2001 I have done a multitude of projects in both Executive Search and Consultancy including two long projects one starting an Events Buildings Company and another helping an international Banking Executive Search Company restructure. I also developed my specialist area of Technology Transfer / Spin Outs working significantly with Dstl / Ploughshare Innovations on both Executive Search and Management projects.
